Choose the mouse that fits your game.
Wired or wireless, battery or rechargeable, light or familiar: spend on the differences you will actually use.

The quick recommendation
Choose fit first. For a simple wired setup, start with the Razer Cobra. For lower-cost wireless, compare the Logitech G305 if its local price is meaningfully below newer rechargeable options. For a lighter right-handed wireless design, consider the PRO X Superlight 2 DEX—provided its shape suits you and the extra cost is comfortable.
Three routes, three different compromises
A gaming mouse does not become a good buy because it has the largest DPI number. Start with the games you play, the space on your desk and the shape you can comfortably lift and control. Our shortlist covers different needs rather than declaring one winner for every hand.
| Option | Who should shortlist it | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Razer Cobra (wired) | You want a light, compact mouse and do not mind a cable. | The cable remains part of your setup. |
| Logitech G305 | You want wireless and are happy to replace an AA battery. | Heavier than the lightweight alternatives; no USB charging. |
| Logitech PRO X Superlight 2 DEX | You want a light wireless mouse with a right-handed shape. | Premium cost; shape matters more than the spec sheet. |
WIRED SIMPLICITY
Razer Cobra: start here if the cable is acceptable
Razer specifies a 58 g design and a flexible Speedflex cable. It is the straightforward route if you would rather avoid charging, batteries and a wireless receiver. We would shortlist it for a compact setup before paying extra just to remove the cable.
Skip it if: the cable catches on your desk or you want a larger, fuller shape. The Cobra and Cobra Pro are different products; verify that you are comparing the wired model. Read Razer’s specifications.
WIRELESS WITHOUT RECHARGING
Logitech G305: compare the price, not its age
The G305 uses Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED receiver and an AA battery. Logitech advertises up to 250 hours from one AA battery. These are useful tradeoffs for someone who prefers swapping a battery to remembering a charging cable.
Buy only if the saving is worthwhile. Its value depends on the current price relative to lighter, rechargeable alternatives. It is not the right choice if you specifically want USB charging or a very light mouse. Check the current G305 specifications.
LIGHTWEIGHT RIGHT-HANDED WIRELESS
PRO X Superlight 2 DEX: pay for the design you want
Logitech specifies a 60 g asymmetric right-handed design, LIGHTSPEED wireless and up to 95 hours of battery life. We would consider it when low weight and this particular shape are priorities. Those features do not establish that it will make you more accurate or outperform every cheaper mouse.
Skip it if: you use your left hand, dislike the shape or would rather put the money toward a monitor, headset or other upgrade. Check the exact model: the DEX, standard Superlight 2 and compact variants are not interchangeable.
How to choose the right fit
Use your current mouse as a reference. If you constantly squeeze its sides, lose contact at the rear or struggle to reach the side buttons, identify that problem before ordering a replacement. Compare length, width and hump placement, not just the stated weight.
For low-sensitivity shooters, leave enough pad space to turn without repeatedly hitting the keyboard. For strategy games or work, prioritize reachable controls and comfortable scrolling. A symmetrical shell with side buttons on only one side is not automatically a fully left-handed design.
Start with familiar sensitivity and settings. Change one thing at a time so you can tell whether a new shape helps. The maximum advertised DPI is a capability, not a target setting or a benchmark result.
Before you order
- Confirm the exact model, handedness and shell dimensions.
- Check the connector or receiver and whether your computer needs an adapter.
- Compare current total prices, including batteries or accessories you need.
- Check the seller’s return conditions; fit cannot be established by a photograph.
- Keep the old mouse until you know the replacement suits your normal sessions.
Our value rule: keep a comfortable, reliable mouse unless you can name the problem an upgrade solves. Wireless convenience or less weight can be useful, but neither justifies an uncomfortable shape.
